Betsy Morgan Was born and raised in Roanoke, Va. where, as a child, she was taught to revere the city's local artists. She graduated in 1983 from North Cross High School where she learned to appreciate, discuss and develop opinions about the art surrounding her. It was in those early years that she discovered her need to make art was a compulsion that defined her.
Morgan graduated in 1987 from Sweet Briar College where she earned a BA in Studio Art. She has exhibited in galleries throughout Virginia as well as New York, Georgia and West Virginia. Her work has been featured in two volumes of Studio Visit Magazine, Virginia Living, Traditional Home, and The Media General Art Collection Catalog. Morgan's paintings are represented in notable public and private collections including: the US Department of State, The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Capital One, Owens & Minor, Media General and Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was awarded The Harry D Forsyth Fellowship by the Virginia Center for The Creative Arts in 2006. She received a second fellowship to the VCCA in 2009 and has won awards in juried exhibitions state-wide.
Betsy lives and works in Richmond, Virginia with her three children, Hope, Anna, and Matthew.
